Hey O!

By the time this entry will have posted itself automatically--don't you just love technology? But I'm not in my office. I needed to escape for a while. My mother wanted to head to the farm for the weekend to spend time with Daddy and work on their new house.

I decided to take off and go with her because I personally need a break. I need it for a couple of reasons.

One reason is I've been a VERY busy little woman lately. I FINALLY finished Morgan Creek. WOOHOO! YIPPEE! YEAH! Let me tell you, this little novel is AWESOME! I read it through a couple of times and have to say STEPHEN KING EAT YOUR HEART OUT! My story ROCKS!

I'm sorry, does that sound a little Diva? You've got to understand that while I know my books are pretty good, and I love each story, this is the first one that I have HONESTLY seen as a MAJOR contender against some of the greatest known names in horror!

I submitted the book to my editor on April 28th. I know there's going to be a bit of time before I hear any response and rather than sitting here chewing my nails and checking the inbox every five seconds, leaving town is a pretty great option. I'll be working with mom in the house, with dad in the fields and taking some time to sneak off on the ATV and maybe start the prep of opening up our summer place--Bug bombing the trailer, making sure the roof isn't missing shingles from the recent tornadoes, replacing the flooring, mopping, scrubbing, sweeping, etc. Yep, total relaxation...HEHEHEHEH

In personal issues, my DH is still in search for that elusive job. He's made a few connections and applied for a job that will require a major move. I'm praying he gets this one but by the same token I'm not really up for a move. I mean right now my babies live less than five minutes from me. This move would seperate us by a couple hundred miles and several hours. That would be sheer hell.

Of course I've already looked at homes for sale in the probable relocation city and have found three I absolutely LOVE. In a perfect world my babies would pack up and we'd all move together. Living in houses that connect with back yards, jobs near each other--the works.

Unfortunately we don't live in a perfect world. Heart ache and tearful farewells are part and parcel of this world.

Then again the Big Man Upstairs could throw us a ringer and job will pop up here--all this sadness and searching will have been nothing but a test...

So what are YOU doing this weekend?

Where do writers get their ideas?

Every writer is occasionally asked where they get the inspiration for their plots.

Ideas can come from anywhere.

For romantic novelists, there is a safe supply of tried and trusted plot devices – marriage of convenience, secret baby, feuding families, beauty and the beast, etc, etc.

Another great source of ideas is newspapers. For example, in yesterday’s paper (I live in the UK and read The Times) we have the makings of a great adventure:

A 3,988 ton cargo ship Arctic Sea goes missing in the English Channel. Vanishes. Disappears without a trace. This is not a rowboat, but a huge vessel with a crew of 15. The ship was carrying a cargo of timber which wouldn’t sink, but would float over the sea even if the vessel itself broke up.

What happened? Where did it go? And how could this happen in one of the world’s busiest shipping channels? In the age of technology which puts our homes on Google Earth and has most of us captured on CCTV countless times each day.

Maybe tomorrow’s paper will tell us…..

But the best story ideas come from real life. My favorite one this week is:

The Girl with the Ice Cream Cone

On Monday, at 6.30 in the morning, on my way to work, I drive along my usual route through a pretty village. A young woman walks down the street, carrying an ice cream cone in her hand. It’s an enormous ice cream, not the kind that comes in a foil wrapper, but a crispy golden cone absolutely heaped with vanilla ice cream. The girl isn’t eating, not even taking a little lick to taste. She is just walking along, the ice cream carefully balanced in her hand. At 6.30 in the morning. In a village without shops. The ice cream hasn’t started melting at all, so she can’t have come far.

Her blond hair bounces against her shoulders as she strides along. She wears pink trousers and a green jacket which convey a bold fashion sense.

Where did she come from? Who is she? Where did she get the ice cream from? Why isn’t she eating? Is the ice cream for someone else?

One of my future books will have a scene with a girl walking down an empty street at 6.30 in the morning carrying an ice cream cone….

Love from Tatiana

WOOHOO!!!

Can you tell I’m excited?

What has me so bouncy and uncharacteristically chipper?

Could it be that in 11 days I head off on my annual vacation with my best friend on the planet? Could it be the fact that this year not only will there be NO KIDS along but we’re also taking another dear friend? Could it be the anticipation of a week of ATVing, hiking, swimming, as well as hitting the tourist spots (which we don’t usually do)? Could it be the nervous worry of possibly repeating the accident that could have easily (and very nearly did) ended my life—and believe me, the nightmares have begun with a vengeance!

It could be but it isn’t—well, not all of it! Much of it has to do with the new contract I just signed! I’m so thrilled about this contract. The book was one I had wanted to write for a long time. The initial idea didn’t pan out but it slowly evolved over time and grew into one that I’m just thrilled to pieces to have written and sold! The book’s titled Demon’s Fall. Despite there being some romance in this book, I'd classify it more as an erotic horror. In fact a friend of mine who is a fabulous author, Rebecca Goings read it and said that if Stephen King wrote erotic, he'd have written something like this. Talk about making my day! SMOOCHES!

How about a little blurb:

What happens when a demon falls for an angel?

Tangela Teshua just recently buried her parents and has given up her city apartment to move back to the country house they left her. However, their deaths and her move are not the biggest changes coming to Tange’s life. Tange learns she is a guardian angel—or at least she will be when she over comes the challenges Satan will put in front of her.

Andras Belial’s father assigned him the task of destroying the newest being on the lighted path. But another battle looms on the horizon for Andras. His inner demon struggles against the strange formation of feelings, of a conscious growing to life. He falters even more when he meets Tange, the beautiful angel just might be able to save him.

Lucifer, infuriated that not only has Andras turned his back on his heritage but he has joined forces with an angel, sends an assassin demon after both Andras and Tange. Can they keep the demons at bay long enough to find happiness?

I’m currently creating a book video but until I get the bugs worked out I don’t have it ready to share. I’m trying a new program—not sure I’m loving it, but we’ll see. As soon as its ready I’ll be posting it about for your enjoyment!

You can keep up with when the book video is ready, the release date is announced or anything else happening in my world by going to my blog http://jingerjackson.blogspots.com or following me on Twitter http://twitter.com/JingerJackson

I should head off for now. I'll be back next month on the 7th--see you then!

Hugz and HAPPY READING,
JJ
